This project uses a structure in the form of the called Mazahua's flower or Mazahua's Venus. This symbolic element takes a main importance in several mother nations of Mexican cultures, such as Nahuas, Otomies and Mazahuas.
It represents fertility, feminity, the morning star, and the 4 cardinal point like in the windrose. Each point equals 4 elements: air, earth, fire and water, and each point leads to a different places in the Nahua cosmogony. Also it's an element associated with several agricultural rituals.
For this project, we reproduce the iconic form of the Mazahua flower in a wood structure on wich different kind of images associated with animal, vegetal and other symbolic elements are projected.
For the building of this structure many Mazahua and Otomí art students had taken part. These students belongs to the Art and Design School on which I’m a professor.
